Annual Monitoring Report: Alta Gracia

Dear Colleagues,

We are happy to share with you our most recent report on the WRC’s annual verification of compliance with labor rights standards at the Altagracia Project factory, located in Villa Altagracia, Dominican Republic.

The WRC once again finds Alta Gracia to have fully complied with its commitments to uphold all aspects of Dominican law as well as those outlined in the superior labor standards to which the factory has committed, including the payment of a living wage to workers. This is no small feat given that, like garment factories all around the world, Alta Gracia has faced significant challenges as a result of the Covid-19 global pandemic. Alta Gracia has remained true to its commitments and taken all possible steps to protect its workers’ rights and their health, including establishing new practices to prevent disease spread in consultation with the WRC, international health and safety experts, and the factory’s workforce.

As the demand for university logo apparel and other garments declined around the world, Alta Gracia shifted to the production of masks, many of which have been manufactured for universities.

Best,

Tara Mathur and Fátima Manzueta
