Russell Letter of March 4
Dear Colleagues,
Russell Athletic circulated a letter yesterday in which it argued that negative views of the company’s labor practices in the university community are a product not of the company’s actions, but of a “misinformation campaign.”
The letter contains numerous statements that conflict with well-established facts, omit important information, or mischaracterize the findings of university monitors. Since accurate information is important to universities’ efforts to enforce their codes of conduct, we feel it is important to provide a corrective to Russell’s communication.
In the attached document (and at this link), we provide the text of Russell’s letter and, in each case where it is warranted, correct the company’s misstatements and omissions.
