Re:11 Licensees Sign New Safety Accord

We are glad to report that 11 university licensees have now signed the International Accord for Health and Safety in the Textile and Garment Industry. We shared an overview of this new binding safety agreement, the successor to the Bangladesh Accord, on August 25. Since then, we have been working to encourage licensees sourcing from Bangladesh to sign (as many universities’ licensing standards require them to do).

These are the signers: Cutter & Buck, Fanatics, Hanesbrands (Knights Apparel and Gear for Sports), Mitchell & Ness, New Agenda, Outerstuff, Top of the World by Fanatics, Uscape, W Republic, and Zephyr Graf-X.  We congratulate these companies for moving expeditiously to ensure that workers making university logo apparel in Bangladesh will be protected under the Accord’s safety inspection and hazard remediation program.

However, a significant number of licensees have yet to sign, including ’47 Brand, Boxercraft, MV Sport/The Game, Ouray Sportswear, and Team Athletics, along with several smaller licensees (ADM Promotions, Angry Minnow Vintage, Chef Works, HALO Branded Solutions, IMAGEN Brands, JNJ Apparel, and Campus Shop). We continue to encourage these licensees to honor their obligations to their university licensors and sign the new agreement, which is essential to the safety of workers in Bangladesh who sew university logo apparel. We will keep you updated on their decisions.

Beyond the collegiate apparel sphere, a total of 133 brands and retailers have so far signed the new agreement, including many industry leaders. You can see the full list here. If you have any questions about this update, please let us know.
