Factory Disclosure Database Updated

Dear Colleagues,

The WRC has just completed a major overhaul of our database of factories producing university apparel. The database includes the list of factories currently making collegiate apparel for our affiliates, and the licensees sourcing from those factories, as well as historical data going back 20 years. The overhaul has improved functionality and made the database more user-friendly. I invite you to explore the new database at your convenience.

The public disclosure of this factory data has long been a pillar of universities’ labor rights approach. Responding to early activism led by United Students Against Sweatshops, universities broke new ground in 2000 by requiring licensees to disclose the names and locations of their supplier factories, something no brand had ever done before.

Since that time, by continuously maintaining this unique database, the WRC has ensured that the information is accessible to the university community, to worker organizations and labor rights groups around the world, and to the public.  The data are also crucial to the WRC’s ability to respond to worker complaints, identify labor rights issues, and engage licensees and factories to achieve remedies.

As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

Best,

Scott
